so apparently this happened…

blogbadge-voteforme!

sometimes on my wanderings through the world of design it becomes embarrassingly apparent that i need to actually check my emails more regularly…

because if i had, i might have known sooner that i’ve actually been nominated for this!

many thanks to the team at amara & to all who participate…

much love!

lately…

grand entrance

i’m thinking this entrance way is pure perfection…

making an entrance

i keep coming back to this image & thinking maybe black double doors to my master bedroom would be pretty special {especially if i can sneak some brass door knobs past the boyfriend}…

kelly wearstler

& i’m not only being drawn to earthy palettes with soft feminine touches, but i’m also growing more & more in love with pattern…

the find {dining room nook}…

a nomadic abode

i wish i could say with any modicum of truth that my eye is so finely trained that i can instantaneously isolate what’s missing from any given scheme by simply throwing a cursory glance in its general direction: sadly i cannot…

for if i could, it wouldn’t have taken me several months of painstaking chopping & changing, switching out & rearranging to finally create a console area that feels worthy of its prominence in my home…

a nomadic abode

turns out all it really needed was a chance acquisition of a £2.50 woven basket from a local op shop i stumbled upon this week…

its soft curves & generous dimensions break up all the angles which were making the scheme feel too static, the texture & pattern brings visual interest whilst the neutral palette ties in nicely with other key pieces around it…

wise words on a monday {but what if?}…

keep calm

this is how i felt today…

rebel that i am…

i’m on week two of an exciting, but particularly challenging adventure & the battery runneth low {no doubt from all that running around like a chook with its head cut off}…

i’ll try & pop back later this week, but until then feel free to join my gang: break the mould & go berserk!

{ps, i will be back with my new home inspiration series next monday}

office bound {conducive to working}…

my kind of office

happy bank holiday all!

turns out the sun did make an appearance in blighty today afterall…

sadly for me i’m having a day of desk duties & am wishing my current office was as conducive to working as this beautiful nook…

take a simple palette, layer on those textures, throw in a heap of contrast {rough & smooth, shiny & matt} & you really can’t go too wrong…

on another note: apologies i won’t be able to bring you this week’s update of my new home inspiration series today, but i’ll be back with that on wednesday after a short blogging break & it will most definitely be worth the wait: it’s the one about the dressing room/walk-in robe debate!

in the meantime, in case you missed them the entrance & master bedroom inspiration posts are here & here

enjoy the sunshine!

keeping it in the family {lovely bones}…

if i ever wanted to breathe new life into my career i’d definitely consider plying the rag & bones trade & i know exactly who i’d want to join forces with…

because when it comes to a love of antiques & curios i have a life long partner in crime: my eldest brother…

just as well there’s 12 years, a gender divide & an ocean between us because otherwise i fear our shopping escapades could prove hazardous: if we didn’t both suffocate under the mound of ol’ tat we carted home, then we may just claw each other’s eyes out for claim to the best bits…

his obsession: vintage guitars, old dressers, wood planes & lathes &, well, vintage tools in general really {boy stuff}…

mine: signage, vessels, oil paintings, carved wood, vintage photos, mismatched china, linens, etc {girl stuff}…

but we meet squarely in the middle with this…

love warriors

lovely bones…

these intricately-carved lace longhorns {or what i’d like to refer to as ol’ bones made good} appeal to our shared love of quirk, craftmanship & the magic that is mother nature…

they are raw & yet beautiful, striking but simultaneously delicate…

& best of all they represent both the perished & the reborn {deep, huh?}…

needless to say, we both want to make them ours: pronto!

old bones

sure old bones & antlers have been doing the rounds in interior design for a while now…

bare bones & guitars

& frankly, i never tire of them…

gold bones

ever…

lacy longhorns

but this takes the celebration of skullage that one step further, adding an element of artistry to the found & a certain purposefulness to the forage…

& i think it most definitely breathes new life into the old…

keeping it light {hanna wessman}…

hanna wessman

i’m keeping it light today, literally, as i really, really have to crack on with some house plans…

& isn’t it always the way when you have something legitimate that you need to be pressing on with that you suddenly find multitudinous waves of creativity washing over you which are all magically directed towards everything except the thing you’re meant to be working on!?!

it’s a skill!

so i’ll leave you with what i thought was a really rather lovely bedside companion from the home of hanna wessman {find out more about her & her lovely home here}…

{ps: happy friday!}
