somebody stop me…

from putting these lovely ladies in my etsy shopping cart & bringing them on home!

i can seriously see the three of us just hanging out, having afternoon tea, discussing those crazy boys & their crazy antics!

having said that, these chicks are looking more than a little down in the mouth so it might be gin shots & counselling sessions…

i hereby christen them melodia & melancholy…

have you ever seen such beautiful misery?

of gypsies, pirates & kings {the hidden chamber}…

have you ever visited the hidden chamber?

it sounds so very harry potter-esque doesn’t it!?! i discovered this etsy trader not so long ago & i love everything about it: from its name to its wares…

it’s like stumbling upon your great grandmother’s jewellery box filled with all manner of trinkets & treasures: each a reminder of a time long since passed…

for me, it’s almost invariably the victoriana pieces that have captured both my eye & my imagination…

those crazy victorians… just looking at this collection of curios fills my head with fertile imaginings as to their origins & their owners… who would have worn them & where & when & why?

from a carved ivory brooch {no doubt a keepsake of a cherished vacation} to a gypsy portrait, vintage scrimshaw earrings & a stick pin which bears the hand of the king… there’s even a treasure box locket which silently stands sentry over a long-since faded portrait held within…

the hidden chamber is most definitely filled with hidden gems, each of which stand as testament to this vendor’s exquisite eye for detail {& pirate treasure}…

for when life is simply too unbearable {etsy}…

so excuse me, please, if my humour is a little darker than usual today {see this post to explain exactly why}…

but these little fuzzy friends from etsy trader f for felt really made me smile today…

a happy couple…

a rare breed…

& a trophy catch!

touted as “a whimsical accessory on the black-ish side of humor”, these eco-friendly finds are intended to respond to your “predatory needs”…

i just think they’re rather cute…

sweet like candy {a merry mishap}…

so, you’ve heard of eye candy right? well these fabulous faceted geo rings from etsy trader a merry mishap are like candy for the fingers… & i want them all… exactly like in the photo!

i used to rely on my travels to beef up my jewellery collection {cheap, easy-to-carry keepsakes to remind me of my holidays}… but as my overseas jaunts get fewer & fewer, these days i have to rely on other methods for topping up my trinket box…

& etsy is fast becoming a firm favourite… there’s so much goodness out there to choose from, but for today i only have eyes for these…

what’s in your etsy basket? {butterflies}…

i can think of a lot less worthy ways to while away an evening than perusing the wares in my favourite virtual marketplace, etsy

i daren’t even look in my “purchases” folder anymore… eek… but i can tell you one thing, i’ve rarely been disappointed with my online acquisitions {and it’s quite a motley collection too}

but looking through my current basket, i can’t help but see themes starting to emerge that clearly reflect my many & varied tastes at any given time, the most prominent of which gives me butterflies {& the occasional moth}…

my latest flight of fancy, a swarm of butterflies to adorn the barnet by which goose

while eva juliet provides some poetry for the walls…

vintage domed specimens from north brooklyn dry goods provide a natural resting spot for my weary eyes…

& utilitarian franchise offers up a soft landing for other body parts…

but perhaps my favourite of all is this wearable art by my selvaged life

many a happy hour have i spent on etsy, & the best part of all is that loading my virtual cart with goodies costs me absolutely nothing {apart from the occasional flutter}…
