in my home {studded cross vase}…

a nomadic abode_cross vase

continuing with my new in my home series, today i’d like to share the most recent addition to our abode {it arrived this morning}, my studded cross vase {a christmas gift from my mum}…

confession time: my 76-year-old mum did not choose this gift, but no doubt tired of hearing my endless babble about how a studded cross vase would complete my life, she wisely conceded & offered to buy it for me, despite it being the antithesis of her own personal style {gotta love that}

it’s a hulking, behemoth of a vase {though i consider it more a piece of sculpture than a vessel}…

cast in ceramic with a mission brown glaze finish, it’s adorned with knobbly studs dotting the surface…

it’s a little big retro {think dalek} & a whole lot of cool…

i’ve long subscribed to the need for a good bit of ugly in an interior to elevate the beauty around it & i think this rather fits the bill…

i also love the masculine edge it brings to this space…

i first clocked this vase on jen ramos’ blog made by girl & was a little elated when i found it for sale closer to home via none other than here {of course}

cherry on the top, it was actually cheaper to purchase in the uk than in the usa {that’s got to be a first}…

i wish i had more details to share, but there are sadly {or delightedly, depending on your point of view} no discernible maker’s marks…

if you have any further details, please do share as i pretty much want to marry this piece!
