for the kids…

happy friday {& february for that matter too}…

with spring nipping at our heels it’s perhaps fitting that there’s a mini-baby boom about to happen amongst some of our friends & family back home…

so i thought it equally fitting to feature a few of my favourite children’s spaces here today…

nurseries, kid’s bedrooms & playrooms are some of my favourite things to design, ever…

here you can embrace your inner child, explore the outer reaches of your imagination & unleash the full frenzy of your childhood fantasies & whimsical desires all without the client so much as batting an eye!

these rooms have it going on…

mosseclectic

inspired by keepsakes passed on by baby saf’s grandfathers, this nursery speaks of the past, the present & the future all in one…

patricia herrerer

ingenius: a chalkboard wall allows this playroom’s theme to be swapped out in an instant…

in the meantime, what kid doesn’t want to play on the prairie under a star-lit sky?

The Animal Print Shop Nursery

strong & sassy are the words i’d use to describe this punchy space: pretty without being overly girly…

clouds

with the clouds of coral up above & the artwork down on low, this space works for the adults & the kids alike…

jane frosh

stylist jane frosh has brought serious swagger to her son’s room with its nostalgic meets industrial edge…

dream girls

i call this room “little miss boho”: as with many of my favourite girly spaces, there’s not a lick of pink paint in sight…

& finally…

jane frosh sparrow

big, bold & beautiful wins my vote every time… bed time must be a delight for this little girl {once again, the home of jane frosh}…

seriously, where else can you openly explore space, recreate a western or woodland scene or bring your favourite fairytale to life…

when it comes to kids’ rooms the sky really is the limit…

  1. I feel like this is a safe place to divulge a very strange secret: I have been designing my future child’s nursery for years. I’ve even gone so far as to bookmark crib sheets and blankets and decorations. I’ve even bought a darling little photograph by Sharon Montrose of a baby deer. I am so ready! Now I have to just, you know, pop out a baby! 🙂 I love all these nurseries as inspiration, too. Niki, over at My Scandinavian Home, posted one today that is also gorgeous. Lots of gray and modern touches. xoxo

    • hah… you’re just very organised! if i ever had a kid the poor thing would probably be sleeping in the dresser drawer for the first month of its life! 😉 will check out the scandi one too! i love grey in a nursery!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing these images. I loved every one of them and you have me thinking that I might actually paint my son’s room a deep dark blue like in your first image. Just goes to show that a kids room doesn’t have to be baby blue or pink! xD

    • absolutely… would love to see the photos if you do! report back! i actually love children’s rooms that, on the whole, don’t look like children’s rooms… you know, the kind that could in theory blend in with the rest of a home… 😉

i'd love to hear your thoughts...
