3*6*5 in 2013…

a nomadic abode

so i found this message on the inside of the moët box as i was tidying up this morning & i thought to myself, how fabulous indeed!

new year, new attitude…

today marks the first day of my second year of blogging…

the first day of a new year that has started with clear blue skies over london town & found me with a head filled with dreams, hopes & ambitions…

i’m not a big new year’s resolution kind of a girl…

never have been…

but i do have some challenges i’d like to set myself in the year ahead: to keep me on track & to keep moving life forward…

i’m calling it my 3*6*5…

this year, alongside whatever else life has planned for me, i want to hold myself true to these three things:

  1. visit 3 countries i’ve never been to before {easy if you live next door to europe, not quite so easy if you’ve already visited the bulk of it!}
  2. do/see/try a minimum of 6 things that represent the best of british {time to get out there & explore this lovely isle}
  3. tick 5 things off my ‘i’ve always wanted to’ list…

living in a city like london it’s so easy to take everything around you for granted…

living on the doorstep of the whole of europe & beyond it’s even easier…

so time to start making the most of the opportunities that abound: time to start living!

what are your plans &/or resolutions? do share!

  1. I love the idea of your 365! That’s so clever, Sue. You really do have it so much easier when it comes to traveling if you’re already IN Europe. Everything is a hop skip and a jump away! I always envied that about you guys 🙂 If you haven’t made it to Belgium yet, I’d highly recommend it. Ghent especially. And then there’s Paris, too, haha. 😉 What are some things on your “I’ve Always Wanted To” list?? So curious. I think we all need a dose of “I’ve always wanted to, so now I’m going to!”

    • it’s true, these guys have it lucky… and as i’m not planning on being a permanent fixture in england, i’d best pull my finger out and start seeing some more stuff! i’ve always wanted to go to pamplona, do a safari, take singing lessons, visit the ballet, be fluent in another language, ride on an elephant, visit the orangutans in borneo, take yoga, learn an instrument, master photography, take a road trip through europe, learn to bake, drive through the desert in a convertible, visit the taj mahal, visit japan in blossom season, learn to surf, watch every oscar winning best movie, salsa like a demon, ride the orient express, do a really good deed anonymously, leave a time capsule, read the classics, own my own home… that’s to name but a few! 🙂

  2. so i found this message on the inside of the moët box as i was tidying up this morning – get you Miss Fancypants!

    Well those are great goals and if you need any help in the best of England department let me know, I would be happy to help xx

    that list just hurt my head. Perhaps start with a trip to Oxford? 😉

    • yeah, i was debating whether or not to mention the moët, but i thought it best for full disclosure 😉 & it was a gift from a houseguest from circa 2010 which shows you just about how often i drink the stuff (bloody nice though!)
      actually our first ‘best of britain’ will be york for the boyfriend’s birthday at the end of the month (it’s actually an ‘always wanted to’ one as well so i could cheat & claim two-for-one!)…

  3. Love your 3/6/5 idea!! Ya know, I’ve lived in the UK for 11 years now and I STILL haven’t seen as much of Europe as I’d like. Silly really as one of the reasons I’ve stayed is the access to the rest of the continent! I may have to start coming up with lists like this 🙂 Although this year I have a trip to Barcelona and a trip to Stockholm planned so that’s two cities I’ve always wanted to visit to check off my ‘must do’ list!

    Thanks so much for the kind comment on my Year in Review! Happy New Year my dear! xxx

    • i hear ya! my boyfriend & i keep saying ‘next year’ to everything… well, this year is now officially next year! 🙂

  4. Happy New Year and have fun with your 3/6/5. My advice, start small but keep up momentum. Your list is so mammoth that you’ll end up doing ‘nada’.

    Consistency, however small, is key.
    Happy to have you on the back of my Vespa when the weather gets warmer;)

    • nah, dream big gal! 😉 besides, my life list is long, but my 3*6*5 in a year seems pretty achievable i reckon… 🙂

  5. Oh, I like this idea very much! As Erin already stated, very clever. Someday, I will re-establish” travel to new lands” as a new year goal (once the kids are old enough). It’s a great goal and gives you something wonderful to look forward to. Happy travels!

    • yes i’ve already started booking up things on my list so it’s given me the incentive i needed… can highly recommend! how old are your kids? travelling age? 😉

i'd love to hear your thoughts...
