restorative rituals…

i’m sure if i tried hard enough i could find some way to explain away my sporadic absences here, but the truth is that my battery is running a little low at the moment… i’m not sure if it’s the weather, the thought of christmas looming, or the fact that we’ve just come out the other end of a summer & autumn packed with visitors, but i’m feeling hugely depleted of late…

never fear, i’m giving myself until the end of this week to snap myself out of it…

in the meantime, i’m firing up some tried & tested restorative rituals in the hope of getting the misery monkey off my back…

so i’m:

  • getting the house in order {simultaneously decluttering & layering up in anticipation of a long, cold winter}
  • working some musical playlists {including some from here: you’ll have to flick through some back posts to find some upbeat gems}
  • lighting a candle or ten {see the tea light holder in the image above… yeah, that’s getting a workout}
  • stocking up for another detox {i swear by this}, &
  • mentally preparing myself for a long-overdue date with the gym…

know of any other tried & tested rituals? do share!

  1. Getting the house in order, reading some fav quotes, going for a walk somewhere new & also a good haircut (I think you may have also used that one this week!). And yes some sofa & TV time always works too!

  2. Oh I almost forgot one of my most favourite ones of all – buying a shiny new magazine (or 2!) and being alone for a few hours reading from cover to cover!

  3. Ooooh day spa yes please! Just pop across the globe please so we can hook up. No there is not much alone time anymore but if I haven’t had it for a few weeks there is a whole Saturday morning “ok everyone must leave the building now except me!” thing happening 😉

  4. Your apartment looks great! Love all your rituals. My favorite is just waking around the house putting things away. Stray hairbands, laundry, tags from shirts I’ve ripped out, dirty glasses, etc etc. It’s so restorative! That and a nice bath. xoxo

  5. Well woman, I get it… I’m with you on all points.
    Heavily de-cluttering and getting my flat ready for winter. Not been taking my supplements or juicing much has also left me depleted so ready for a detox too.

    Have lots and lots of candles and generally trying to stay toasty. Skin feels dry etc etc coz I don’t drink enough water at the moment.

    All solved by green juices. Let’s compare notes….

    Your flat looks gorgeous. Do I spot AA florals and her diamond candle holder??

    Happy weekend:)

i'd love to hear your thoughts...
