the sunday nook {cocooning}…

i just read a quote that said something along the lines of “write drunk, edit sober”… so i’m in bed blogging with a glass of red wine {i figure i can work on the sober bit another time}….

but please don’t judge: the diminishing light of a particularly gloomy autumn is making me edgy…

the clocks turned back an hour today & it’s all i can do to stop myself curling up in a dark corner & hunkering down until spring…

& so it is that sunday’s nook is dedicated to this part seductive, part menacing, wood-panelled retreat…

the floor-to-ceiling bookcase wraps around the bed head like a warm embrace & there’s a distinct whiff of victorian gentleman’s club about it all: even the chandelier is reminiscent of a thick, swirling plume of cigar smoke…

similarly dark flooring continues the sense of envelopment &, if not for some lighter accessory additions, the brooding darkness of this scheme threatens to altogether devour you…

simply install a mini-bar & i say the prospect of hibernation has never been more appealing…

  1. Sorry to hear you’re feeling gloomy due to the onset of shorter daylight! I don’t like it much either but it doesn’t seem to bother me that much these days. I just get used to it:) I think not having to do the commute helps greatly!!

Hope things will brighten up for you soon:)

    • i must sound well miserable… haha… i’m ok with it for now… trying to hunker down and make the flat feel cosier… don’t plan on speaking to me in about 4 months time though because by then i’ll be well moody!

i'd love to hear your thoughts...
