the sunday nook {making an entrance}…

never underestimate the importance of first impressions…

as is the case with job interviews, blind dates & that initial encounter with the future inlaws, first impressions count… &, like it or not, they also have a tendency to linger, regardless of what might come afterwards…

the same can apply with your home: your property’s entrance way is often the first opportunity your home has to truly shine {especially true of apartment living}: as such, it should provide a sense of arrival, a feeling of welcoming & simultaneously give a nod to what’s to come…

that’s a tall order for such a small space to pull-off but, as today’s nook proves, making an entrance doesn’t have to mean being grandiose or over-the-top & it doesn’t have to cost a mint…

here, in one of my all-time favourite spaces, some simple storage options create a sense of order & a surface on which to display a collection of some much-loved pieces & everyday essentials…

a cohesive colour palette {loving those glossy black doors} reinforces the harmony, whilst flowers bring a welcome display of colour & all-important scent…

& finally, a simple art display injects some real personality & gives guests genuine insight into the tastes of those who live here, thus building the anticipation of what awaits them inside…

{apologies once again… sunday turned into a monday seemingly overnight!}
