staying close to home today…
given our impending move, i thought it prudent to document some of my favourite spaces in my current home…
& so aptly, this sunday nook is my sunday nook: a corner of my lounge which catches my eye every single day…
& it’s a space which has most definitely evolved over time…
the antique leather club chair is, of course, the star of the show… i had lusted after a chair like this for many, many years before this one came calling… she’s not perfect, but she does wear her age well with her cigar-coloured leather, moustache back & studded detail coupled with some sweet curves in all the right places…
a sheepskin rug adds warmth & texture, but what i especially love about using natural elements in any space is their organic, uncontrived shapes…
who knew the combination of a sequinned cushion & a hand-woven scarf from a hill tribe in vietnam could cohabit so sweetly? their textures complement rather than compete with eachother, while a stack of design books on a low-lying metal side table bring colour & typographic interest…
proving a tight budget doesn’t have to be an obstacle to design, the scalloped border detail on this wooden mirror belies its bargain-basement price tag {£20}… hung low from a length of satin ribbon & embellished with an antique key & a white wreath decal {not visible} it adds a sweet focal point to this lounge…
finally, my favourite decorating tool always is & always will be fresh flowers & foliage… they soften, freshen & invigorate every space, every time…
