going global {rue travels june/july 2012}…

this issue of rue magazine is most distinctly one after my own gypsy heart!

a close second to my passion for travel, exploration & the discovery of foreign shores is my love of seeing the homes of others who are similarly afflicted…

power in numbers… these amulets have a big impact, but require little luggage space…

a simple space allows key pieces to breathe…

quirky finds occupying unexpected spaces add bags of character…

a local piece of art makes a fabulous memento…

carefully-chosen curations blend seamlessly together…

seeing how others incorporate their global finds into their homes both inspires & delights me… i sometimes wonder, had i happened upon the same pieces would i have found a home for them in my suitcase too… or would i have had the vision to display them to such great effect?

& observing how the climate & culture of our chosen homelands influences the way we live equally intrigues me… for me, the image of an angled louvre window or an open-sided verandah will eternally transport me straight back to a childhood spent in the balmy, tropical surrounds of sunny queensland, australia…
