the sunday nook {my home}…

a little nook i’m quite familiar with today… a corner of my home that runs a close second to the sofa for most utilised space {the main bedroom}…

for many years now i’ve been a white bedlinen only girl {ok, neutrals at an absolute stretch}… it’s a fresh & versatile look & makes pretty much any space look amazing {and i love the fact that you can completely mix & match from different sets}

but in the last few months i’ve found myself gravitating back to colour in the bedroom {sharp intake of breath!}… it all started with this lovely bed range from toast {i must concede, the catalogue imagery completely sucked me in on this one & i found myself daydreaming of sleeping precariously on a rocky ledge with the ocean waves crashing at my head, just like in this image}…

and then once i’d bitten the bullet & purchased not only the bedlinen, but the throw as well, i found myself a little disheartened & was left with the feeling that something was missing {that is, besides a rocky outcrop, the smell of the ocean & the wind in my hair!}… whilst i was loving the muted grey-blue colour combo going on, things felt a little insipid & lacking…

& so it was that i set about finding a little something, something to bring back some warmth & vibrance… & there it was, hidden quite unceremoniously under a display stand towards the back of the third floor of regent street’s anthropologie {sometimes you need to dig deep to find gold}… this beautiful patchwork coverlet in golden, earthy & autumnal tones & featuring my favourite pattern of florals… vibrant enough to add some zing, not so zingy as to give a girl nightmares…

i think it adds just the pop of colour that this space needed & is the perfect antidote to waking up to yet another spring day that thinks it’s still winter!

what do you think? are you into the layered look, do you like a bit of colour in your bedlinen, or do you prefer to keep things simple?
