a winning combination {grey & gold}…

maybe it’s all the olympics hype here in london that has me in a perpetual state of gold fever, but the more i see it {and believe me, it’s everywhere once you start looking}, the more i wanna get me some…

brass, copper, bronze or gilt… it’s all the same to me, adding an instant injection of gorgeous glam which, in the right doses, can lift a room & make it shine {overdo it though and you run the risk of making your home look like a bank vault, or worse, a national treasure: nice to visit, not so great to live in}…

against a neutral backdrop the addition of a little shimmer warms & dazzles, but offset against a dark & moody hue, it positively sings…

this bedroom sizzles with just the right touch of bling courtesy of a lovely off-centred sunburst-esque mirror {as a side note, i’m also loving the use of repeat pattern here from the sunburst to the lamp fringe, the piped cushions &, of course, the swirl of the rug… there’s a sense of movement herein which injects visual interest despite the limited colour palette}

the golden shimmer of a rusted sign casts a warm glow over this eclectic lounge {vintage abigail ahern}

& a gilt mirror {with the help of a chandelier} adds instant grandeur to this dining room, which is otherwise modestly dressed…

so, does the very thought of gold fever make you want to run a four-minute mile or crack open the purse strings & make an investment?
