bringing the outdoors in {figgy fabulousness}…

when it comes to house plants, go large or go home i say…

for years i persevered with the piddly, saucepan-sized variety: a peace lily here, a gardenia there, a succulent or two for good measure… but they never made much impact {unless huddled together taking refuge on my pint-sized balcony} and ultimately died a miserable death of neglect…

as i grow older i’m trying to teach myself the valuable lesson of quality over quantity… and so it is, in our next home i’m going for one large, kick-ass statement piece to really up the wow factor & simultaneously bring the outdoors in… & i have just the leafy lovely in mind!

i’m talking about a plant the magnitude of which will dwarf not only me, but the man too {maybe even me on the man’s shoulders}, like this fabulous fiddle-leaf fig as featured in the portfolio of stylist emily henderson… its spindly trunk & elephant-eared leaves enhance the already chillled vibe in this dining room…

or this specimen {as captured by photographer debi treloar} which takes on the form of a sculptural masterpiece, negating the need for further adornment in this light-filled space…

or this jurassic-proportioned behemoth which runs amok in this lounge in its quest for sunlight…

like the old adage says, less is more… especially true when less happens to be this amazing!

bring it in & bring it on!

  1. I LOVE fig trees! I’ve been desperate for one for ages but becuase we’re trying to buy a flat and don’t know if we’ll get any outside space I’ve resisted but this post has made me think I should do it anyway. Great post Susan!

i'd love to hear your thoughts...
